Learning & Teaching

At Holy Spirit College, our vision, mission and values compel us to develop the whole person and, in turn, 'ignite spirits and inspire minds' of the young people in our community.

Utilising high quality learning and teaching, pastoral care and vocational programs, we nurture a strong culture of personal success through:

  • Development of a growth mindset
  • Fostering self-directed, critical, confident, creative, and innovative life-long learners
  • Inspiring students to achieve their potential and take personal responsibility for their education, putting them in the driver's seat of their learning
  • Igniting a passion to be active and informed members of the community.

The alignment with the Alice Springs (Mparntwe ) DeclarationAustralian CurriculumQueensland Curriculum & Assessment Authority (QCAA) and beliefs and values underpinning the BCE Learning and Teaching Framework form the basis of our education program. This gives students access to the general capabilities, cross-curriculum priorities, and Catholic perspectives to prepare them for an ever-changing world.

At Holy Spirit College, we acknowledge each and every person in their uniqueness and God-given gifts and talents and as such develop individual student pathways through the college wide My Next Steps (MNS) academic, wellbeing and personal mentoring program facilitated by the Pastoral Care teacher.

Through the Holy Spirit College Vision for Learning, our teachers aspire to be positive, enthusiastic, and engaging and facilitate teaching and learning experiences which will challenge, motivate, and transform our students.  We devote collaborative time to evaluating and improving our practice and draw on contemporary, evidence based pedagogical resources to create deep and inclusive learning experiences.
